VisitBritain is the UK National Tourism Agency, a non-departmental public body funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).
The VisitBritain shop is an e-commerce platform for VisitBritain and a commercial entity. It works with over 400 suppliers from all around the UK and retails their attractions and experiences on the dedicated website. Unlike the rest of VisitBritain, the VisitBritain shop works with commission and generates a profit which is reinvested into domestic and international marketing and running Travel Trade events such as Showcase Britain. VisitBritain runs seasonal, thematic and regional marketing activity promoting relevant products throughout the year. Being bookable on the shop also means businesses can benefit from being part of large-scale national campaigns such as the National Lottery Campaigns which they have run in partnership with Camelot.
VisitBritain has run two promotional campaigns in conjunction with Camelot where players could use a Lotto ticket to redeem a £25 voucher to use at hundreds of the UK’s top tourist attractions. The campaigns have been hugely successful, with businesses reporting huge increases in sales during the period.
Campaigns run by VisitBritain and the shop provide the opportunity for suppliers to:
- drive sales and target new domestic and international customers;
- reach up to two million potential customers via the VisitBritain Shop consumer database across Britain and Northern Ireland;
- encourage direct returning visitors;
- see ancillary spend at your business hopefully rise when customers have the opportunity to visit.
Tourism Exchange Great Britain (TXGB) is the technology partner of the VisitBritain shop and is a sales /distribution channel available to opt in to via the TXGB platform. TXGB can help tourism suppliers to contract and connect their content, availability and pricing with a diverse range of distributors in one go and manage this in one place. It’s free for suppliers to join and has been licenced for Wales by Visit Wales / Welsh Government. For more information look at the TXGB website or submit an enquiry via our online form.
