Wall of Hwyl / Wal Hwyl

As part of our marketing campaign a Wall of  Hwyl / Wal Hwyl  is featured on the Visit Wales homepage. The “wall” is filled with moments of fun and joy – hwyl - throughout Wales and we are asking visitors to tag us so that it features people having fun in Wales.

Please use the following tags #FeeltheHwyl, #Hwyl, #VisitWales and #CroesoCymru. User generated content (UGC) will populate the feed throughout the year, but to start i.e. at launch, Visit Wales will be using some of our own favourite hwyl filled posts.

If you would like your business or destination to be considered to feature as part of the Wall of Hwyl content, please email Croeso@gov.wales  – all we need is a contact name, email and your business name, and then we will get in touch to let you know what kind of video or post we are looking for and help you with how to feature.

  • Your guide to getting on the Wall of Hwyl

    What type of content/social posts?

This will be all about the hwyl (fun/joy) that you can have in Wales! Have a look at the examples below. You’ll see from this that our style approach is very ‘Point of View’. I.e. featuring people / a person in the pictures/films when possible, showing their journey, and trying to catch the emotion on faces.

As well as that very personal feel, we will aim to showcase the landscape, destinations and businesses of Wales, showing a sense of place and using the Welsh language.

As usual for socials, shorter videos work better – so we aim to keep them under 20 seconds if we can.

How to share your posts with us

Once you have created your post – either from scratch or maybe you already have a great post that you want to use again - all you then need to do is post on your own business social media (Instagram and/or Tiktok).  Please use the #FeeltheHwyl /#Hwyl (hashtags) and #VisitWales / #CroesoCymru on your posts so we can easily find them and add them to the bank of potential content to feature.

    Things to bear in mind

Please note, if you are featuring close ups of individuals, please make sure that they are content to be in the post i.e. you have model release forms and approval from the people featured, to be in your content.

We’ll also be ensuring that any posts we feature promote safe activities and adventure e.g. if the post is about kayaking, we’ll expect to see those in it wearing the right safety equipment.

We’ll get in touch with you

If your content is selected to feature on our website, we’ll get in touch with you to confirm your approval before publishing.

How often will the “Wall of Hwyl” refresh?

We’ll be drawing from stakeholders and visitor social media throughout the year and the feature on the home page will carry around 12 posts at a time, regularly refreshing so we can show as many posts as possible.
