Year of Croeso: Weather-proofing Fund for Small Tourism & Hospitality Businesses 2025-2026
Following the success of our initial Weather-proofing fund for attractions during the 2025 Year of Croeso, Visit Wales is launching a second round of capital grants for 2025-2026. This fund totals £1.75 million and aims to help tourism & hospitality businesses invest in weather-proofing measures.
Who can apply?
Eligible businesses include:
- accommodation providers (serviced and self-catering)
- food and drink venues with sit-down service, (restaurants, pubs, cafes)
- outdoor activity providers (e.g. hiking, cycling, kayaking, wildlife safaris, water-based activities, surfing, and fishing)
NOTE: Businesses that received funding in Phase 1 are not eligible for Phase 2.
Grant details
- Grants range from £5,000 to £20,000 per project
- Funding supports the cost of installing weather-proofing measures that improve trading conditions and enhance the visitor experience during poor weather.
- Examples include covered outdoor areas, dining pods, or surfacing and drainage.
Business Criteria
To apply, businesses must:
- Be an SME in the tourism or hospitality
- Employ 9 to 49 full time staff
- Have been trading for at least a year.
Applicants are encouraged to consider how their improvements could attract visitors and shift perceptions of Welsh destinations in poor weather.
Key Dates
All funded work must be completed and claimed by 31 March 2026.
